Lawrence, Indiana – Pawn shop employee robbery didn’t go as planned for a Lawrence teenager after he was shot and seriously injured Tuesday afternoon in Lawrence, police say.
According to the police, local police department officers were dispatched to the 7900 block of Pendleton Pike around 4 p.m. for a report of a person shot.
When they arrived at the scene, they found a teenager suffering gunshot wound. His condition was critical and he was immediately transfer to a local hospital for treatment. The identity of the teenager was not released by the authorities.
The police said the shooting occurred when the teenager, along with two other suspects, tried to rob an employee of EZ Pawn on Pendleton Pike. When the worker was leaving work, he was approached by three young people who attempted to rob them.
According to the pawn shop employee, at least one of the three young folks had handgun and a shoutout started. That’s the moment when the man shot the victim. He was grabbed by his friends and taken to another location.
The employee was not injured in the gunfire. His identity was also not released by the local authorities.
Police are still gathering information about the crime, which remains under investigation.
