Evansville, Ind. — K9 Barker, a member of the Indiana State Police (ISP) working in the Tri-State area, will soon be better protected in the field thanks to a generous donation of body armor.
The donation, facilitated through the non-profit organization Vested Interest in K9s, Inc., will provide K9 Barker with a bullet- and stab-resistant vest, enhancing the K9’s safety while assisting law enforcement in the field. Vested Interest in K9s, Inc. has been a key contributor in providing body armor to thousands of K9s nationwide, ensuring these working dogs are better shielded from harm.
K9 Barker’s new vest was made possible through the sponsorship of Deanne and Martin Barley of Fountain City, Indiana. The vest will be embroidered with the words, “In honor of K9 Officer Seara Burton,” a tribute to the fallen officer who made the ultimate sacrifice while serving in the line of duty.
ISP officials stated that the delivery of K9 Barker’s new vest is expected within the next 10 weeks. This donation serves as a reminder of the risks K9 officers face daily and the important role they play in law enforcement operations across the country.
With the support of organizations like Vested Interest in K9s, Inc., K9 officers continue to receive the protection they need to carry out their vital work, keeping both their human colleagues and the community safe.
