Evansville, IN – According to the police officials, Blondie was born on July 2, 2006.
Blondie was a staple in the EPD Mounted Patrol Unit which was started back up in 2017 by Lieutenant Wood.
Police officials also said that Blondie was the perfect horse to get our Mounted Patrol Unit off the ground and helped train our current horses that are still in the unit.
Evansville Police Department officials released the following statement:
“Blondie was often seen out in the community as she participated in hundreds of community events. Kids and adults of all ages loved Blondie. She helped break the ice when people would come up to say hello and start a conversation with the Mounted Patrol Officers. There are countless stories of citizens coming up to pet and love on Blondie while telling us about their childhood horse memories.
Blondie was laid to rest in her favorite pasture at her home surrounded by Lt. Wood and his family on Saturday, February 17th. Blondie was a huge part of our agency, and an even bigger part of the Evansville community has a whole. Blondie will be greatly missed. The Mounted Patrol Unit will continue to do wonderful things out in the community while always thinking of her.”
