Evansville, IN – According to the police officials, the shooting occurred around 6:09 p.m. on Aug. 23, 2023.
It happened in the 3100 block of E Riverside Dr.
Evansville Police Department officers responded to a shooting call.
The responding officers reportedly found one adult female victim.
The victim suffered a gunshot wound and was laying in the backyard of a residence.
She was transported to a local hospital for treatment.
The victim told officers that her ex-boyfriend was the suspect and he was inside of the residence. The victim had met with the suspect at the residence to speak with him but they began to argue.
She said that the suspect had a gun and pointed it at her head. He fired off a round next to her face, but did not strike her. He then pointed the gun towards her foot and shot her in the ankle.
Officers located the suspect inside the residence with a self-inflicted gunshot wound. The suspect was conscious and was transported to a local hospital for treatment.
He will be facing multiple charges including Domestic Battery with a Deadly Weapon and Possession of a Firearm by a Serious Violent Felon.
