Monroe County, Indiana – As a result of the extreme weather and strong winds that the area experienced, a tornado was observed in Monroe County.
According to the Monroe Fire Territory, a tornado touched down in the southwest corner of Monroe County on Sunday evening. County officials are working to determine the full extent of the damage.
In order to ascertain the total number of residences that had sustained storm damage, Jamie Neibel, the director of Monroe County EMA, helped the fire territory conduct a survey. They discovered numerous downed trees on streets, as well as downed power wires.
County officials have stated that there have apparently been damages to 10 structures. The majority of these are houses and barns. As of right now, no injuries have been recorded.
Tomorrow, the EMA director and the National Weather Service will check on the damage around the county to provide more updates.
