Bloomington, Indiana – A 28-year-old man from Bloomington faces charges for allegedly participating in the Capitol riot events on January 6.
The suspect was arrested last Wednesday by the FBI agents from the Indianapolis office.
The man was identified as Antony Vo and he was charged on Thursday with multiple charges including with knowingly entering or remaining in any restricted building or grounds without willful lawful authority, disorderly and disruptive conduct in a restricted building or grounds, disorderly conduct in a capitol building and parading, demonstrating or picketing in a capitol building.
The Capitol riot events happened on January 6 when the Congress met in a joint session to certify the Electoral College vote in the 2020 presidential election. The former president Donald Trump held a rally just before the Capitol attack took place.
According to the FBI, they have been notified from two people about Vo. One of them knew the suspect when they were students, while the other one knew him from their high school years. They said that Vo posted several images and videos on his social media accounts including Instagram and Facebook on January 6. He has been seen both outside and inside the building they added.
Both of his ‘friends’ confirmed that Vo had always engaged to conspiracy theories and he was well known Trump supporter.
In one of the photos that Vo posted on social media, is seen with a woman, allegedly his mother. He posted multiple photos with the woman outside and inside the Capitol building after it was breached by rioters.
Additionally, Vo had sent several photos where he is seen inside the building to other friends in private messages. This was confirmed by FBI who received a search warrant for Vo’s social accounts.
In one conversation, Vo wrote, “My mom and I helped stop the vote count for a bit.” In another, he wrote, “President (Trump) asked me to be here tomorrow so I am with my mom LOL.” In other conversations, Vo said the results of the 2020 presidential election were fraudulent.
According to one of the messages he sent to a friend, Vo claims the police officers left the crowd ito enter the Capitol building on purpose. This is the message:
Vo: “they [the police] pretty much opened up for us”
Vo’s friend: “The police opened the gate?! I didn’t hear that anywhere!”
Vo: “yeah they stood down and retreated after we clearly outnumbered them”
His phone records also indicate that he was inside the Capitol building on January 6. As of now, a total of 7 Indiana residents have been charged in a connection to the Capitol riots incident.
