Lawrenceburg, Indiana – According to a press release from USAC Racing, sprint car participant Justin Owen has passed away as a result of the injuries he incurred in a car accident on Saturday while competing in the USAC AMSOIL Sprint Car National Championship at Indiana’s Lawrenceburg Speedway.
After Owens’ car collided with a wall and repeatedly flipped, the event was called off. “It’s never easy to be reminded how quickly things happen in this sport or that we’re not promised tomorrow. We will continue to pray for Justin Owen’s family, friends, and supporters. Tony Stewart Racing sent a message on Twitter saying, “We’re so sorry for your loss.
Owen, a 26-year-old driver from Harrison, Ohio, won two features and the championship at Lawrenceburg Speedway in 2022. He also had several additional victories over the course of his entire racing career.
His family, friends, and team have received condolence messages from USAC and a number of other organizations.
