Noblesville, Indiana – A significant expansion is being planned by Noblesville Schools to support the improvement of its performing arts and STEM programs.
Administrators from Noblesville Schools revealed a $39 million proposal on Wednesday that will provide 70,000 square feet of new space for STEM programming. 37,000 square feet will be renovated as part of the project for performing arts.
“Noblesville Schools is nationally recognized in these areas, and they are huge points of pride for our community,” said Dr. Daniel G. Hile, superintendent of Noblesville Schools. “This additional space will allow us to meet growing demand and best prepare students for future high-paying, competitive careers.”
The expansion, according to school leaders, is a result of rising demand for STEM and performing arts courses. The population at Noblesville High School has increased overall by 25% since 2012, but STEM class enrollment has increased by 193%, and performing arts enrollment has increased by 76%.
The expansion plan includes:
• Up to twenty-two new classrooms, including space for STEM and traditional academic courses
• Construction and welding labs
• Hands-on STEM makerspace
• A second student café
• Renovated large group instruction room to provide flexible meeting space
• Expanded jazz space
• New percussion and piano lab areas
• Expanded choir facilities, storage, and sound proofing
The school is already expanding its athletic facilities, adding new courts, more female locker rooms, classroom space, athletic office space, and improvements for volleyball, cheerleading, and wrestling.
Bonds would be used to pay for the project instead of a referendum or money from the classroom. Over the summer, the school board is anticipated to vote on the proposal. The expansion would be operational in August 2025 if permitted.
