Indianapolis, Indiana – A strike by the Teamsters Local 135 Union against Sysco Indianapolis has been approved.
The vote was held on March 12 as a result of the global food distribution corporation and the Indianapolis-based warehouse employees’ and drivers’ union failing to reach an agreement on new terms for a contract.
On March 3, the Teamsters Local Union 135 and Sysco Indianapolis’ contract came to an end since no new conditions could be agreed upon.
Almost 150 teamsters work at the Sysco distribution center in Indianapolis. The facility is in charge of offering supplies and equipment to the hospitality and food service sectors.
Teamsters Local Union 135 claims Sysco has disregarded every suggestion aimed at raising pay and benefits.
