Bloomington, Indiana – A guy was stabbed in the abdomen just an hour into the New Year, and Bloomington police are now looking into the incident.
Around 1:25 a.m. on Sunday, BPD officers were called to the 200 block of S. College Avenue on a stabbing report.
Police discovered a 32-year-old guy at the scene with a “severe injury” consistent with an abdominal knife wound. The man underwent surgery after being brought to a nearby hospital, according to BPD. The state of his health at this time is unknown.
Before the victim was transported into surgery, according to BPD, investigators had a brief conversation with him. The man allegedly told police that he had been in a neighboring bar where he had spoken to a stranger earlier in the evening.
The victim informed BPD that after leaving the bar, the same individual approached him as he was in an adjacent alleyway. Later, according to the victim, the man stabbed him with a knife.
According to BPD, the suspect ran away from the scene on foot in an unknown direction. The victim urged someone to dial 911 as he made his way back toward College Avenue.
Police claimed they had not found or named the suspect. Anyone with information on the stabbing is asked to contact BPD Det. Jon Muscato at (812) 339-4477 as the investigation is still underway.
