Fishers, Indiana – Fisher local authorities confirmed that they arrested a second teenager, a 13-year-old boy, believed to be involved in the verbal threat involving a bomb at Riverside Junior High School.
The police were able to quickly determine there was not credible threat. Once they confirmed that everything was fine at the scene, they easily located the teenager and informed his parents. The teenager was then arrested for false alarming.
This was the second case in the same school this week. According to the police, a 13-year-old girl was previously arrested for making a threat against the same school. She was charged with intimidation.
The police have a reason to believe that these cases are completely independent from each other. They said that the incidents are not connected in any way.
The Hamilton County Prosecuting Attorney’s Office and Hamilton County Juvenile Probation approved the criminal charge and the student was released to the custody of his parents.
Following the arrest and charges, Hamilton Southeastern Schools spokesperson released the following statement to the public:
“All threats of school violence are taken seriously and immediately reported to the Fishers Police Department for investigation. Parents should remind their student(s) that any threat – even if they think it is a joke – will result in consequences. Students will face disciplinary measures as outlined in the Student Handbook. Further, a student’s actions in regard to making a violent threat(s), may result in criminal charges at discretion of local law enforcement. School safety is all of our responsibility. We will continue to remain diligent in our efforts to keep our students and staff safe while in our care.”
