Howard County, Indiana – Single-vehicle crash in Howard County resulted with one teenager dead Sunday morning, police say.
According to the accident report, the victim has been identified as the 16-year-old Johnathon Russell McKoon of Kokomo, a junior at Taylor High School.
The accident happened around 4:10 a.m. on Sunday and the authorities were dispatched at the scene to S.R. 22 near 1000 East in response to the crash.
Authorities said that white 2010 Chevy Impala that was traveling westbound on SR22 with three people inside. The vehicle left the roadway near the intersection of 1000 East, struck a utility pole and rolled into a field before coming to a rest.
The teenager, who was the only victim in the crash, was sitting on the rear seat, but he was ejected from the vehicle as a result of the heavy crash and died at the scene.
The other two passengers were conscious when first responders arrived at the scene, but they didn’t provide more information regarding their health condition.
The police also didn’t provide more details what led to the accident.
The case is under investigation and authorities are expected to provide more details about the crash in the upcoming days.
