Indianapolis, Indiana – The suspect believed to be involved in last week’s case where a child was abused and later died was arrested, police said.
According to police reports, the incident happened around 5 p.m. on August 27, Friday, when authorities were dispatched to the 2900 block of S. Pennsylvania Street to assist Indianapolis Emergency Medical Services (IEMS) for a child choking.
Just before the authorities arrived at scene, the fire department was already arrived and were able to locate the child who was already unresponsive.
While they were waiting for the EMS to arrive at the scene, the firefighter performed CPR to the child. As soon as EMS crews arrived, they took and transferred the child to hospital in critical condition. Doctors put all their efforts in saving the little one, unfortunately, the child was pronounced dead two days later.
The medical examination revealed that the child suffered abusive head trauma and that was the main reason for the death.
The investigation led the authorities to the 22-year-old Brandon Herring who was arrested believed to be involved in the child’s death.
Police didn’t say what was Herring’s connection to the death. More details are expected soon.
