Evansville, IN – The Evansville Fire Department in Indiana is using a hands-on training model to help recruits better understand how fires behave during emergency situations.
According to the department, firefighters are using a small “dollhouse” demonstration model to show how heat, smoke, and airflow can rapidly influence fire conditions inside a structure.
Officials explained that by opening doors or windows during the demonstration, recruits can observe how ventilation and flow paths may quickly intensify flames and change fire behavior in real time.
The department said the training helps firefighters understand the importance of controlled ventilation tactics during structure fires and reinforces how quickly conditions can become dangerous.
Evansville Fire officials also thanked Engine 5 B-Shift for building the training model used during the instructional sessions.
