EVANSVILLE, Ind. — A gun was fired during a dog attack incident that unfolded on Tuesday in Evansville. Authorities responded to a shots fired call at a residence on East Iowa Street, near West New York Avenue, around noon.
According to the Evansville Police Department (EPD), the disturbance began when a neighbor’s dog jumped over a fence and attacked another dog in the yard. As the situation escalated, a person attempted to break up the fight. However, during the intervention, the neighbor’s dog bit the individual on the hand.
In response to the growing danger, a man involved in the incident grabbed a firearm and fired a round into the ground. Thankfully, no one was injured by the gunfire. The dog that had been attacked was subsequently taken to a local veterinarian for treatment.
Evansville Animal Control is continuing its investigation into the matter. Authorities have not yet released further details regarding potential charges or the circumstances surrounding the firearm discharge.
