EVANSVILLE, Ind. – A hit-and-run crash in Evansville led to the arrest of a 21-year-old man Sunday morning, after police followed a trail of footprints in the snow that led them directly to the suspect.
The incident occurred at the intersection of Virginia and Evans Streets. A woman reported that her car had been struck by another vehicle, and the driver of the other car had fled the scene on foot. When officers arrived at the scene, they discovered a trail of footprints in the freshly fallen snow that started at the damaged vehicle.
Following the prints, authorities soon located Isaiah Pulley, who matched the description of the driver provided by the woman. Pulley, however, claimed he was simply walking to a friend’s house. Despite the freezing temperatures, Pulley was only wearing a t-shirt, which raised suspicion.
When questioned, Pulley denied any involvement in the crash, even though the car involved was registered in his name. Officers also reported smelling alcohol on his breath. Pulley refused to submit to a blood alcohol test, but police took him into custody, citing the circumstances surrounding the crash and his behavior.
Pulley was transported to a local hospital for evaluation before being booked into jail. The case highlights the importance of physical evidence, as the footprints in the snow ultimately led officers to the suspect, despite his initial denials.
As of now, Pulley faces charges related to the hit-and-run incident, and the investigation is ongoing.
