EVANSVILLE, Ind. – In celebration of Black History Month, the Evansville African American Museum is inviting the community to explore the rich history and culture of African Americans in the local area. Throughout the month of February, the museum will offer free admission, making it an ideal time for both residents and visitors to learn more about the pivotal contributions of Black individuals in Evansville’s history.
Located at 579 S Garvin St., the museum is open Tuesday through Friday from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. and on Saturdays from noon to 4 p.m. The museum is closed on Sundays and Mondays.
This special promotion provides an opportunity for people of all ages to engage with exhibits that highlight the achievements, struggles, and stories of African Americans in the region. The museum’s collection includes artifacts, photographs, and interactive displays that help illuminate the significant impact of the Black community in shaping Evansville’s past and present.
