EVANSVILLE, Ind. — The president of a local non-profit organization, Dallas Majewski, is facing over 30 felony theft charges after being accused of embezzling more than half a million dollars from Disciples of Christ Ministries USA.
Court records reveal that Majewski’s bond, which was initially set at $100,000, has now been reduced to $20,000. This change comes after a hearing in which Majewski’s legal team successfully argued for a reduction in the bond amount.
Majewski, who served as president of the non-profit, is alleged to have stolen funds from the organization over an extended period. The thefts reportedly totaled more than $500,000. Authorities have not provided further details on the specifics of the thefts, but the case has garnered attention due to the large sum involved.
The accused is scheduled to return to court on Tuesday, February 18, where further proceedings will take place. If convicted, Majewski could face significant penalties, including imprisonment, given the serious nature of the charges.
This case has raised concerns about the oversight of non-profit organizations and how individuals in positions of trust can sometimes exploit their roles for personal gain. Local authorities continue to investigate, and further developments are expected as the case progresses through the court system.
