Indianapolis, Indiana – On Thursday, the Indiana Department of Transportation will restore the eastbound lanes of I-465, alleviating one inconvenience for drivers in Indianapolis.
As part of the I-69 Finish Line Project, INDOT closed eastbound I-465 on June 2 from I-65 on the south side to the I-70 interchange close to Indianapolis International Airport.
According to INDOT, opening EB I-465 will be staged and will likely take some time. I-65 will open the first ramp, followed by I-70, and so on.
According to INDOT, all lanes and ramps along EB I-465 will reopen before rush hour on Thursday morning.
As workmen move barrels and take down barricades, drivers should be aware of road workers and shifting traffic patterns.
When eastbound I-465 reopens, the timer for a parallel closure of westbound I-465 will begin to run.
On or after July 7, all I-465 westbound lanes and ramps between I-65 and I-70 will be closed.
Crews will begin construction on new lanes, retaining walls, drainage structures, and bridge rehabilitation work during the closure.
According to INDOT, the lanes will reopen on or around July 29 depending on the weather.
