EVANSVILLE, Ind. — Hydration Station, a local initiative dedicated to addressing water inaccessibility, is hosting a 5K Walk/Run to raise awareness and funds for its mission. The event is set to take place on Saturday, May 10th, at 10 a.m., starting at the Evansville Museum along Southeast Riverside Drive.
The 5K event aims to bring the community together in support of Hydration Station’s efforts to provide clean and safe drinking water through the installation of water dispensing stations. The walk/run is open to all, with an entry fee of just $10, which can be purchased online. The funds raised will directly support the installation and maintenance of these stations in Evansville and surrounding areas.
Hydration Station, founded in 2022, was born out of the University of Evansville’s Changemaker Challenge. Since its inception, the organization has made significant strides, installing three outdoor water stations and two indoor stations across the city. Two more outdoor stations are currently in the works for installation in downtown Evansville. The organization’s mission is to ensure that clean drinking water is accessible to everyone, regardless of their location or circumstance.
Jack Deig, Founder and CEO of Hydration Station, joined 44News This Morning to discuss the upcoming 5K event and the organization’s ongoing efforts. “The community’s support has been incredible,” said Deig. “This 5K event is a great way for everyone to come together to support a cause that affects us all. Access to clean water is a fundamental human right, and Hydration Station is working to ensure that right is upheld here in Evansville.”
The 5K Walk/Run is expected to attract participants of all ages and abilities, offering an opportunity for residents to engage in a fun and meaningful activity while supporting a cause that impacts the health and well-being of the entire community.
