Evansville, IN — A woman was injured in a crash on Monday afternoon when her car was struck by a pickup truck at the intersection of Kratzville and Allens Lane in Evansville.
According to the Evansville Police Department, the accident occurred around 4:30 p.m. when the pickup truck was T-boned by the car, causing the truck to break through a nearby fence. Authorities later identified the driver of the truck as 25-year-old Fabian Garcia Herrera. Police say Herrera was driving with false plates and did not have a valid driver’s license.
The woman driving the car was trapped in her vehicle and had to be extricated by firefighters. She suffered a broken right leg and was transported to a local hospital for treatment.
Witnesses and the woman herself reported that the truck ran a red light before the crash occurred, and authorities are continuing to investigate the incident. Police records also revealed that Herrera had been convicted in April for driving without a license.
This incident serves as a reminder of the dangers of driving without a valid license, as well as the potential consequences of disregarding traffic signals. The investigation into the crash is ongoing.
