VANDERBURGH COUNTY, Ind. — A 22-year-old man has been arrested and charged with attempted murder following a drive-by shooting in Vanderburgh County. Authorities responded to the scene after a homeowner reported hearing a car horn followed by the sound of a gunshot at her residence on Wyoming Avenue.
Upon arrival, deputies with the Vanderburgh County Sheriff’s Office discovered that the bullet had penetrated the front door frame, traveled through a wall, and lodged in a laundry room wall. Fortunately, no one was injured in the incident.
Deputies interviewed neighbors and gathered information that led to a description of the suspect’s vehicle. Using Flock camera technology, law enforcement was able to identify the suspect as Jacob Austin Hille. After switching vehicles several times, he was taken into custody without incident.
A subsequent search of Hille’s apartment, conducted after securing a search warrant, yielded over 50 rounds of 7.62 mm ammunition and more than two pounds of marijuana. Despite being questioned, Hille declined to speak with detectives regarding the incident.
Hille has been formally charged with attempted murder, a Level 1 felony, as well as criminal recklessness with a deadly weapon, a Level 5 felony, and possession of marijuana, a Class A misdemeanor. He is currently being held without bond.
