VANDERBURGH COUNTY, Ind. — Two teenagers were arrested early Tuesday morning after leading Vanderburgh County deputies on a brief pursuit along the Lloyd Expressway.
According to the Vanderburgh County Sheriff’s Office (VCSO), the incident began around 3:30 a.m. when deputies observed a Jeep driving erratically in a parking lot on the west side of the county. Deputies attempted to initiate a traffic stop, but the driver of the Jeep fled the scene, sparking a short chase through a construction zone on the W. Lloyd Expressway.
The pursuit came to an end when the vehicle stopped on the Tekoppel Avenue bridge. However, the driver and a passenger quickly exited the Jeep and fled on foot. Deputies later determined that the Jeep had been reported as stolen.
A search of the surrounding area led deputies to a nearby garage, where they found the two suspects, a 15-year-old and a 16-year-old, hiding. After questioning, the teens were taken into custody and transported to the Youth Care Center (YCC).
Both suspects now face multiple charges, including felony resisting law enforcement, misdemeanor resisting law enforcement, and possession of a stolen vehicle. Authorities have not yet released further details about the suspects’ identities.
The incident highlights growing concerns over juvenile involvement in criminal activity, particularly in relation to stolen vehicles and law enforcement pursuits. Authorities continue to investigate the circumstances surrounding the case.
