Evansville, IN – The Evansville Fire Department responded early Sunday morning to a house fire in the 600 block of Powell Avenue that tragically claimed the lives of two juveniles.
Firefighters arrived to heavy flames on the first floor, with fire spreading rapidly through the home and into the attic. Crews conducted an interior search while attacking the fire. Multiple juveniles were found and transported to a local hospital. Two were later pronounced deceased, and one remains hospitalized in Indianapolis.
The cause of the fire is under investigation, with assistance from the Bureau of Alcohol, Tobacco, Firearms and Explosives. The Evansville Fire Department offered condolences to the families affected. Further updates will be released as they become available.
