Indianapolis, Indiana – A California man who admitted to possessing more than 500 grams of methamphetamine with the intent to distribute was given an eight-year jail term by the federal government.
Dejohntae Zeche Keith Williams, 30, was pulled over by an Indiana State Police officer in May 2021 after he was observed operating a semi-truck over the speed limit on I-65.
The trooper searched inside the truck and discovered two sizable, black duffel bags on the top bunk of the sleeper berth, according to Indiana State Police.
There were 162 roughly one-pound packages of methamphetamine, individually wrapped in plastic, within the bags. Between the two suitcases, there were roughly 72 kg of methamphetamine.
Williams confessed to carrying cocaine to Louisville, Kentucky, in exchange for $30,000 during a meeting with agents from Homeland Security Investigations.
The punishment was handed down by U.S. District Court Judge Jane Magnus Stinson. Williams will serve a three-year period of supervised probation after leaving federal prison.
