Indianapolis, Indiana – Twenty five, this is the total number of people that are left without homes after their apartments burned in huge fire early Thursday morning.
According to reports, fire crews responded around 4:15 a.m. at the Jeffersonian Apartments on Shortridge Road near East 10th Street. When first crews arrived at the scene, they saw the fire on the lowest apartment and quickly spreading to the upper level.
Indianapolis Fire Department Battalion Chief Rita Reith said they had the fire under control by 5:10 a.m. but six units were almost completely damaged by the fire, smoke and water.
At least three people suffered minor injuries. One person was taken to hospital for further treatment with non-life-threatening injuries.
There is open investigation about what caused the fire.
