Williamsport, Stinesville, and Patriot placed 144, 148, and 150, respectively, on the list.
In Warren County, Williamsport is situated next to the Wabash River. Williamsport Falls, the tallest free-falling waterfall in the state, is undoubtedly its biggest claim to fame.
According to the town’s website, Paul Dresser is thought to have written “On the Banks of the Wabash, Far Away” in Williamsport in the late 1890s.
Stinesville
Stinesville is a component of the Bloomington metro region and is located in Monroe County.
The small community has just more than 200 residents, per the most recent U.S. Census.
Stinesville grew in the 1850s as the limestone industry expanded in southern Indiana, according to Indianalandmarks.org. Today, the only buildings with limestone facades in downtown Stinesville are five.
Patriot
Patriot is located between the Ohio River and the Indiana-Kentucky border. The Lewis and Clark National Historic Trail Experience includes the settlement in Switzerland County.
A fun fact Elwood Mead, a former director of the US Bureau of Reclamation, was born in Patriot, Indiana. Mead was in charge of the Hoover Dam’s construction, and Lake Mead bears his name.
