Indianapolis, Indiana – Authorities have once again arrested a teenager who was suspected of fatally shooting two men and another teenager a year before, but this time on drug-related charges.
The bodies of the victims were discovered in the vicinity of the 4400 block of South Meridian Street in Indianapolis, Indiana, on October 12, 2021, by an officer with the Indianapolis Metropolitan Police Department. Investigators said the victims were shot several times, and multiple shell casings were discovered near the bodies.
According to the Marion County Prosecutor’s Office, the suspect, Caden Smith, was 16 years old at the time of the deaths of Michael James, Abdullah Mubarak, and Joseph Thomas but was charged as an adult with three counts of murder, three counts of felony murder, three counts of robbery resulting in serious bodily injury, dangerous possession of a machine gun, dangerous possession of a firearm, possession of methamphetamine, possession of marijuana, and resisting law enforcement.
The then 16-year-old Smith was released with a GPS monitor last year, on October 14, and one year later, on his 18th birthday on November 23, 2022, he was arrested and charged with possession of marijuana, dealing in marijuana, and invasion of privacy.
Smith is in custody at the Marion County Jail without the possibility of release, and he is scheduled to appear in court on Tuesday.
