In response to the widespread power loss, CenterPoint Energy took to social media to inform the public about the ongoing situation. The company confirmed that crews would continue to assess the damage and begin repairs as soon as it was deemed safe to do so.
As restoration efforts were underway, the utility company reminded the community to stay safe in the aftermath of the storm. CenterPoint Energy urged residents to avoid getting within 35 feet of any downed power lines or damaged equipment. The company further emphasized the importance of not attempting to remove tree limbs or other objects from the lines. In the event of encountering hazardous conditions, residents were encouraged to report the issue by calling the emergency line at 800-227-1376.
