Evansville, Ind. — A major traffic change is coming to a busy intersection on Evansville’s west side, as the Indiana Department of Transportation (INDOT) begins a new phase of construction this week.
Starting Tuesday, June 3, INDOT will temporarily close two of the four ramps at the intersection of University Parkway and the Lloyd Expressway. The closures are expected to last approximately six weeks and are part of a pavement replacement project aimed at improving driving conditions in the area.
The affected ramps include:
-
The northeast exit ramp from westbound Lloyd Expressway to University Parkway
-
The northeast entrance ramp from University Parkway to westbound Lloyd Expressway
Both ramps will remain closed through mid-July while crews carry out necessary improvements. INDOT officials emphasize that the construction will not affect the intersection’s southeast or southwest ramps. The entrance and exit ramps serving eastbound traffic will remain open throughout the project.
In a bit of good news for local commuters, INDOT also announced that the intersection of Schutte Road, which had been closed for previous work, reopened on Monday, June 2.
Motorists are advised to use caution in the construction zone and plan alternate routes to avoid potential delays. Updates will be provided as the project progresses.
