PIKE COUNTY, Ind. — A 49-year-old man from Princeton, Indiana, died in a drowning incident Thursday morning after a small jon boat capsized on a private body of water in Pike County.
According to the Indiana Department of Natural Resources (DNR), authorities received a 911 call around 8 a.m. reporting that a boat had overturned near State Road 61, just north of Winslow. Two individuals were on board at the time of the accident.
Officials say one of the occupants was able to swim to safety, while the second individual did not resurface. Emergency responders from Pike County conducted a search and were able to recover the body later that morning.
The victim has been identified as Brandon King, 49, of Princeton. An autopsy conducted Friday morning determined the cause of death to be drowning.
The incident remains under investigation. No further details have been released at this time.
