POSEY COUNTY, Ind. — The Posey County Sheriff’s Office (PCSO) has unveiled its newest addition to the safety efforts at local schools: a newly designed patrol vehicle for its School Resource Officer (SRO). On Tuesday, the vehicle was officially delivered to Darrin Richardson, the SRO serving both St. Wendel and St. Philip schools.
Sheriff Tom Latham, accompanied by St. Wendel Principal Hallie Scheu and St. Philip Principal Kellie Kelsey, was present to showcase the vehicle’s unique design, which represents both schools. SRO Richardson, who will be assigned to the new patrol vehicle, also participated in the event.
The patrol vehicle is part of an ongoing effort to strengthen security measures within the schools and to provide a more visible law enforcement presence for students, staff, and the community. The design reflects the commitment to safety and the collaboration between the Posey County Sheriff’s Office and the local schools.
Sheriff Latham emphasized that the new vehicle is not only a symbol of law enforcement’s dedication to ensuring the safety of children but also an investment in the security infrastructure that serves both St. Wendel and St. Philip schools.
The vehicle will be used by Richardson as he continues his role in fostering a safe and supportive school environment. It is expected to enhance the SRO’s ability to respond to emergencies and assist in daily school operations, offering both a visible deterrent to potential threats and a helpful resource for students and faculty alike.
As part of the unveiling, the community was given an inside look at how the vehicle will contribute to the growing safety initiatives in Posey County schools.
