EVANSVILLE, Ind. – A tragic pedestrian accident occurred on Saturday evening around 6 p.m. at the intersection of Diamond Avenue and Stringtown Road, resulting in the death of one individual.
According to Evansville Police, two pedestrians were attempting to cross Diamond Avenue when a westbound truck struck one of them. The second pedestrian noticed the approaching truck and stopped in time, while the pedestrian who was hit attempted to move out of the way.
Despite efforts by responding officers to administer life-saving measures, the pedestrian was pronounced dead at the scene.
The intersection was closed for approximately one hour as police conducted an accident reconstruction to investigate the circumstances surrounding the incident. Authorities confirmed that the driver of the truck is cooperating fully with the ongoing investigation.
