Bloomington, Indiana – The intersection of Maxwell Lane and Sheridan Road in Bloomington, Indiana, has been changed from a two-way stop-controlled intersection to an all-way stop-controlled intersection as of today, Monday, December 19.
A City Council ordinance 22-31 that was adopted on November 2nd as a result of local residents’ worries about safety at the crossroads served as the impetus for this adjustment.
On the Maxwell Lane approaches to the intersection, there are new “Stop Ahead” signs, and new stop signs on Maxwell Lane feature transient red flags.
The purpose of the temporary signage, message boards, and flags is to increase user awareness of the altered traffic pattern and lower the likelihood of accidents occurring as a result of it.
