Gas City, Indianapolis – Orange barrels, lane limitations, and closed exit ramps will shortly affect a large number of I-69 users in Grant County.
Weather permitting, work will begin on Monday to replace the concrete pavement and add a bridge deck overlay on the interstate between Fairmount and Gas City.
The Indiana Department of Transportation reports that crews will be working on I-69 from just south of State Road 26, east of Fairmount, to just north of U.S. 35/State Road 22, close to Gas City.
Phases of the interstate’s construction will switch between lanes.
Exits 255 and 259 in the northbound and southbound directions will close on Monday and reopen on or around April 18, according to INDOT. Towards the end of May, the exit ramps will close once more.
Another Grant County road project, this one on U.S. 35, will already be underway when work on I-69 starts.
In order to repair a bridge, INDOT workers will close off a section of U.S. 35 on Saturday between State Roads 9 and 37 west of Fairmount.
Mid-June is the estimated completion date for the project.
State Road 37, State Road 26, and State Road 39 are alternate routes that motorists can take to avoid the closure.
