EVANSVILLE, Ind. — A 20-year-old man was arrested on charges of dealing marijuana after police investigating a late-night shooting stopped his vehicle and discovered illegal substances and a firearm.
Officers responded to reports of gunfire in the area of South Linwood Avenue around 11:30 p.m. Tuesday. Authorities say they heard between six and nine gunshots but found no injuries at the scene. A vehicle was reported to have sustained damage during the incident.
As police conducted their investigation, several vehicles were observed leaving the area. One of these vehicles was stopped by officers, who identified the driver as Darryl Fulgham.
Despite denying possession of firearms, Fulgham was found to have a handgun hidden beneath his seat after a vehicle search. Officers also located a digital scale in the center console. Fulgham was noted to have the odor of marijuana, and two bags of the drug were found on his person along with approximately $1,100 in cash.
Fulgham was arrested and taken to Vanderburgh County Jail, where he faces charges of dealing marijuana and driving without a license.
