Evansville, IN – A 43-year-old man was arrested Tuesday night in Gibson County after allegedly attempting to enter a vehicle while carrying a sword. According to the Gibson County Sheriff’s Office, the incident occurred in the Evansville area, prompting a swift response from law enforcement.
Officers were dispatched to the scene following reports of a suspicious individual attempting to enter a parked vehicle. Upon arrival, authorities conducted an investigation that led them to a nearby residence, where they located the suspect, identified as Danny Riley. Riley was reportedly dressed in all black clothing and in possession of a sword.
After questioning Riley, officers confiscated the weapon and placed him under arrest. In addition to the intimidation charge stemming from the alleged attempt to enter the vehicle, Riley faces charges of possession of marijuana and possession of paraphernalia. The substance and paraphernalia were reportedly discovered during the course of the arrest.
Riley is currently being held at the Gibson County Jail. No further details regarding the nature of the vehicle or the events leading up to the encounter have been released by law enforcement.
