JASPER, Ind. — A 32-year-old Jasper man, identified as Kyle Eason, has been arrested on 30 felony charges related to online child exploitation and the possession of child pornography. The arrest follows an extensive investigation conducted by the Jasper Police Department (JPD) and their Internet Crimes Against Children (ICAC) Task Force.
The investigation began in February after multiple cyber tips were received by the JPD from the National Center for Missing and Exploited Children. The tips indicated that a person in the Dubois County area was suspected of uploading and downloading files containing child pornography.
After several weeks of investigation, JPD detectives were able to identify Eason as the individual responsible. A search warrant was executed at his residence, where investigators were assisted by the Knox County High Tech Crime Unit. Specially trained in digital forensics, the unit utilized their Electronic Storage Detection K-9, Bogey, to help uncover potential evidence.
Eason was arrested and transported to the Dubois County Security Center, where he faces 30 separate felony charges. These charges include child exploitation and possession of child pornography.
The investigation is still ongoing, and authorities have warned that additional charges may be filed as new evidence is uncovered. The JPD is urging anyone with further information related to the case to come forward.
This case serves as a reminder of the continuous efforts law enforcement agencies put into combatting online crimes against children, using advanced tools and collaboration between various specialized units.
