Indianapolis, Indiana – After pleading guilty to cocaine possession with the intent to distribute and possession of a firearm in furtherance of a drug trafficking offense, an Indianapolis man was given a 10-year sentence in federal prison.
In April 2021, when Antwann Tigner, 34, was being investigated by Indianapolis Metropolitan Police Department detectives, many narcotics transactions were allegedly witnessed by them at his residence.
When IMPD officers carried out a search warrant at Tigner’s home on April 29, 2021, Tigner was on the front porch when the officers arrived. According to the police, he entered the house through the rear entrance.
Officers entered the house and discovered a camouflage bag inside of which they discovered a loaded.38 Special revolver and a variety of ammo. Police also discovered a digital scale, plastic baggies, and a Pyrex measuring cup with drug residue close to the revolver, according to a release on Monday.
Investigators discovered Tigner trying to flush narcotics baggies in the toilet while conducting a search. Officers discovered methamphetamine, cocaine, and fentanyl in multiple bags in the bathroom after taking Tigner into custody.
Over 49 grams of fentanyl, 229.73 grams of methamphetamine, and 37 grams of cocaine were all present in the bags. In addition, investigators claim to have found a stolen, loaded gun and $50,186 in narcotics money in the upstairs restroom.
Following his release, Tigner was mandated to complete four years of probation.
“Drug dealers do not care about the well-being of people who use controlled substances. They will lace their drugs with poisonous levels of dangerous substances to make more money at the expense of human life. It is our responsibility as federal law enforcement officials to attack the drug overdose epidemic head-on by identifying and prosecuting those who are funneling this poison into our communities. Our office will continue to work alongside ATF and IMPD to do just that,” Zachary A. Myers said.
