Indianapolis, Indiana – For aspirant commercial airline pilots, the Leadership In Flight Training Academy on Thursday announced the addition of two new training programs in partnership with Indiana Wesleyan University.
Beginning in November, students will be able to complete their flight training at the academy while concurrently earning two- and four-year degrees from IWU and earning their commercial pilot’s licenses.
A news release states that program graduates can go straight from their studies to the flying deck of an Embraer aircraft operated by Republic Airways. While pursuing their pilot’s licenses, students can obtain their associate’s and bachelor’s degrees from IWU online. Both programs will begin with early flight training so that students can accumulate flight time and experience while pursuing their degrees.
The two-year associate-level pilot program was created to prepare students for employment as pilots and in other aviation-related fields.
The four-year bachelor’s curriculum leads to an undergraduate degree in aviation management for graduates.
Between either program, students involved will graduate with:
• An Federal Aviation Administration-issued private pilot certificate.
• An FAA-issued instrument rating.
• An FAA-issued commercial certificate.
• An associate or bachelor’s degree from IWU
