Evansville, IN — Indiana Governor Mike Braun signed two important pieces of legislation this week aimed at strengthening public safety and increasing protections for residents.
The first bill, Senate Enrolled Act 324, raises penalty levels for crimes involving fentanyl and domestic violence. The legislation is designed to address growing concerns over the opioid crisis and the impact of domestic violence in communities across the state.
In a statement, Governor Braun emphasized the importance of holding offenders accountable, saying, “Criminals should know there will be consequences for their actions. This law raises the bar and thus increases the protection for Hoosiers.” He reiterated that ensuring the safety of Indiana residents remains a top priority for his administration.
In addition, Governor Braun signed House Enrolled Act 1014, a broader public safety bill containing multiple provisions and common-sense measures intended to enhance security and improve law enforcement capabilities statewide.
These legislative actions underscore the state government’s commitment to protecting its citizens and addressing pressing public safety challenges through stronger legal tools and community-focused solutions.
