Freshman point guard Khristian Lander entered the transfer portal Friday morning. Lander is the sixth Hoosier to put his name in the transfer portal this offseason.
“Not knowing who will be the coach is something that has been on my mind,” Lander said on Twitter. “So with that being said, I will be entering my name into the transfer portal. In no way does that mean I’m leaving IU. It just puts me in a better position for my future.”
Senior Al Durham, junior Race Thompson, sophomore Armaan Franklin, freshman Jordan Geronimo and graduate transfer Parker Stewart are the other members of IU men’s basketball to put their names in the transfer portal.
The former five-star recruit reclassified at the end of last year to enroll at IU early and be able to play for the team this season. According to 247Sports, Lander was the No. 27 recruit in the country and the top-ranked recruit in the state of Indiana for the 2020 recruiting class.
In his first season in Bloomington, Lander averaged 2.1 points and 1.2 assists while averaging just 10.1 minutes per game.
All players who have entered the transfer portal have done so following the firing of Archie Miller on March 15.
