EVANSVILLE, Ind. – The Evansville Vanderburgh School Corporation (EVSC) has announced that Thursday will be an asynchronous learning day due to the ongoing cold temperatures and snowfall in the area. A message sent to staff indicated that all lessons should be posted by 10 a.m. to ensure students can continue their coursework remotely.
As winter weather continues to impact the region, other school districts have also been affected. Hancock, Hopkins, and Ohio Counties in Kentucky have reported delays or full cancellations of classes due to the hazardous conditions.
EVSC parents and students are advised to check the school’s online platforms for updates regarding assignments and activities for the day. While traditional in-person classes are canceled, this asynchronous setup allows students to complete their lessons from home.
Local authorities are urging residents to stay safe as road conditions may worsen throughout the day, with additional snow accumulation expected.
This decision follows recent trends of school districts opting for remote or hybrid learning setups in response to severe weather events. As of now, it remains unclear whether the school corporation will extend remote learning options for additional days if weather conditions persist.
The EVSC is expected to continue monitoring the situation and will provide further updates as necessary.
