EVANSVILLE, Ind. — Nora Walsh, a chemistry teacher at Reitz High School, has been named the 2025 “Teacher of the Year” by the American Association of Chemistry Teachers (AACT), a prestigious national recognition that highlights her outstanding contributions to the field of chemistry education.
Walsh, who teaches on-level, honors, and Advanced Placement (AP) Chemistry at Reitz, has long been regarded as a leader in both the classroom and the broader chemistry education community. According to the Evansville Vanderburgh School Corporation (EVSC), she also serves as an AP Chemistry reader and mentor, helping guide educators across the country in delivering rigorous and engaging instruction.
Beyond her work at Reitz, Walsh contributes as an associate editor for Chemical Education Xchange, a digital resource hub for chemistry educators. She is also a two-time finalist for the Presidential Award for Excellence in Mathematics and Science Teaching (PAEMST), one of the highest honors bestowed upon K–12 science teachers in the United States.
The AACT “Teacher of the Year” award recognizes educators who demonstrate exceptional teaching, dedication, and innovation in chemistry instruction. Walsh’s selection places her among an elite group of teachers nationwide who are advancing science education through leadership and passion.
