EVANSVILLE, Ind. — An Evansville man has been found guilty on two counts of rape following a jury trial that lasted only minutes.
Carlos Rodriguez-Geronimo was convicted Friday by a Vanderburgh County jury for forcibly raping a woman in his home. Authorities say the victim had met Geronimo at their workplace and later agreed to hang out, after which the assault occurred.
Geronimo was arrested in late 2024, and the case proceeded quickly. According to the Vanderburgh County Prosecutor’s Office, the jury reached a verdict after just 35 minutes of deliberation, underscoring the strength of the evidence presented.
Sentencing for Geronimo is scheduled for June 20.
The Prosecutor’s Office expressed appreciation for the swift justice delivered in the case and emphasized its commitment to holding perpetrators of sexual violence accountable.
