EVANSVILLE, Ind. — Angel Lopez was charged with operating a vehicle while intoxicated and leaving the scene of a crash following an incident late Saturday night, May 24, 2025, according to official documents from the Evansville Police Department.
Police reported that Lopez struck a parked 2019 silver BMW on Evans Avenue, causing significant damage to the driver’s side of the vehicle. The owner of the BMW, who was not present at the time of the collision, has expressed intent to press charges against Lopez.
Officers responding to the scene discovered nine open containers of alcohol inside Lopez’s vehicle, including partially consumed beer and whiskey. Lopez admitted to drinking alcohol but denied operating his vehicle while under the influence. He also claimed that he was forced into the vehicle involved in the collision; however, police noted that the damage to his car did not support this assertion.
Lopez was subsequently charged with drunk driving and leaving the scene of an accident. The investigation remains ongoing as authorities continue to gather evidence.
