Evansville, IN – An 84-year-old Evansville man, Calvin Barrett, was arrested today after authorities received a report alleging he inappropriately touched a child. T
he Vanderburgh County Sheriff’s Office launched an investigation after the child informed their parents about the incident.
According to reports, the child told their parents that Barrett touched them and made them touch him. During an interview with law enforcement officials, Barrett reportedly admitted that the child had sat on his lap. He stated that, while he did not intentionally touch the child’s private areas, the child’s movements caused his hands to end up between the child’s legs.
Barrett acknowledged that he touched the child inappropriately on three separate occasions. Barrett is currently being held without bond on charges of child molestation.
As of now, a mugshot has not been released by the Vanderburgh County Sheriff’s Office.
