EVANSVILLE, Ind. — A 33-year-old Evansville man has been arrested and charged with rape and sexual misconduct with a minor following an investigation by the Evansville Police Department.
Authorities say the investigation began after a young victim came forward and disclosed years of abuse by the suspect, identified as Shawn Miller. The victim reportedly made the disclosure during a forensic interview at Holly’s House, a local advocacy center for abused children and adults.
According to police, the victim alleged that the abuse continued for several years and persisted even after Miller was released from a previous prison sentence. Investigators noted that Miller has a violent criminal history, including two prior felony convictions to which he pleaded guilty.
Due to concerns about the suspect’s criminal background and the possibility of retaliation against the victim, investigators requested a high bond in the case. Miller was arrested on Monday and booked into the Vanderburgh County Jail, where he is currently being held on a $25,000 bond.
The case remains under investigation, and additional charges may be considered as more information becomes available.
