Evansville, Ind. – A 54-year-old man was arrested on charges of sexual battery after an alleged incident at the Riverwalk Communities assisted living facility in Evansville on Saturday.
According to the Evansville Police Department, officers responded to the facility just after 5:15 p.m. on March 1st, where they spoke with the victim, a woman in a wheelchair.
The woman told police that Scott Boik, a resident of the facility, had cornered her in an elevator and touched her inappropriately without her consent. She also reported that Boik told her that he loved her during the encounter, and due to her physical limitations, she was unable to defend herself.
The situation reportedly escalated when Boik exposed his bare buttocks in the facility’s lunch area.
A witness at the scene corroborated the victim’s claims, stating they saw Boik hovering over the woman and attempting to touch her while the victim was trying to push his hands away. Boik was questioned by police and initially denied knowing the victim, claiming he had not left his room that day. However, Boik later contradicted his statements, leading officers to charge him with sexual battery.
A nurse at Riverwalk Communities informed authorities that Boik is of sound mind and does not have any mental impairments affecting his decision-making.
The nurse also reported that Boik had a history of obsessive behavior toward women. Boik was taken to the Vanderburgh County Jail, where he was booked on charges of sexual battery.
A mugshot has not been released by the Vanderburgh County Sheriff’s Office at this time.
The investigation is ongoing, and authorities are urging anyone with additional information to come forward.
