Evansville, IN – A local man was arrested Monday morning after presenting a fake driver’s license to law enforcement officers during a routine traffic stop.
According to the Evansville Police Department (EPD), the driver was initially pulled over for having an obstructed license plate. Upon approaching the vehicle, officers noted that the driver appeared visibly nervous and was shaking when asked for identification.
The suspect provided a driver’s license bearing the name “Joseph Levi Jordan.” However, after further investigation, police determined that the man’s real identity was Michael Troy Jordan. When questioned, Jordan also gave a false date of birth and name.
During the investigation, police confirmed that the driver’s license was counterfeit. Jordan later admitted to creating the fake ID himself.
In addition to the forged license, officers found a pill in the vehicle, which Jordan acknowledged as his own.
Jordan was arrested and booked into the Vanderburgh County Jail on multiple charges, including obstruction of justice, counterfeiting, forgery of a government-issued ID, false informing, and possession of a controlled substance.
The arrest highlights the potential risks associated with counterfeit identification, as well as the vigilance of local law enforcement in detecting fraudulent documents.
